Chicago, the first city in US ban on bisphenol A

Chicago became the first city in US that bans on bisphenol A in food and vessel prepared for children under 3 years old. It will be in effective from Jan 31, 2010.

Chicago city in Illinois approved the law of ban on bisphenol A in food and vessel prepared for children under 3 years old on May 28, 2009. Chicago became the third city for having such requirement after New York Long Island and Minnesota.

This regulation is carried out by business and consumer protection department compulsorily. It requires retailers to stick the label of without bisphenol A on product. First time of violation will be fined between 100 and 300 dollars. And another 300 to 500 dollars will be fined for each in the future. Except for the civil punishment, its authorization license and business license could be detained or withdrew. Details are as below,
